HUSARZ 1577
We present the silhouette of a Hussar Comrade from the year 1577, a pivotal moment in Polish military history marking the reforms of King Stephen Bathory. This warrior represents the birth of the legendary heavy shock cavalry that would dominate European battlefields for over a century.
VISIBLE ELEMENTS OF CLOTHING AND ARMAMENT:
HUSSAR SZYSZAK (HELMET): Helmet with nasal guard, cheekpieces, neck guard, and ostrich feather plume.
HUSSAR HALF-ARMOR: Segmented half-anima breastplate, backplate, and pauldrons.
VAMBRACES (ZARĘKAWIE): Steel forearm guards with segmented gauntlets.
LEOPARD SKIN: Status symbol and psychological weapon.
ŻUPAN: Long red patterned noble robe.
SABER (SZABLA): Hungarian-style saber with open hilt and long cross-guard.
WAR HAMMER (NADZIAK): Close-combat bludgeoning and piercing weapon.
